Free Font Collections - Part 1

Archived in Free, Links, Design, Downloads |

Increase your DESIGN repetoire with a healthy collection of FREE fonts. When doing any sort of graphics work for web, print, media, or beyond, a large number of fonts (and even dings) can improve your chances of evoking the right feeling for an overlay, a word-mark, a trademark, a logo, a menu, a heading, a body text, or a print cover. Skip the pay-per-font collections, and dip right into the FREE sites that often contain one-off fonts with a preview graphic to show you what you’re getting:

“All fonts on this site are simply alpha-numerically sorted. To download any font simply click on the image of the font and save the resulting archive file to your hard drive.”

A fairly easy to use interface, this site has nearly 6000 fonts available for immediate download and installation — all FREE! Fonts are also sortable by foundry (creator) so it’s easy to look for similar fonts from top-notch designers and DESIGN companies.

“Browse through the alphabetical font listings or the font categories to view the available FREE fonts. Each font has a full preview page with proprietary details. Most fonts are freeware and as such FREE to use for professional webmasters and hobbyists. If you wish to use them commercially, you may have to register them first. Make sure to see if the font is freeware or commercial. Registration information can always be found in the readme.txt file attached to the font file, or at the link destination if included.”

The front page of this site is a categorical listing of font styles, great if you’re looking for something in particular along a specific theme such as holiday fonts, retro fonts, or futuristic fonts.
